I have been playing golf for about 2 years...so think of it as hitting a 7 iron 150 yrds. My instructor says that "your worst putting job is better than your best chipping job" and that's so true. Any other good tips.

Well Known:
count the strokes of the guys you play against.

Not Well Known:
When striking the ball, draw an imaginary line where the club head passes over to hit the ball straight. Most try to swing onto that straight line about 2 or 3 inches before the ball. Make a habit of lining up about 7 inches before the ball and you leave less room to chance. The ball will fly straight more often

Putting:
Don’t try to sink those long putts. Just aim to get it within 4 feet of the cup, preferably past the hole. That cuts down extra strlkes on the green and if the weight is enough to just go past, it may drop anyway instead of sit on the lip.

Most beginners hit with a swing path that is outside-in. This causes wicked slices. Try to develop an inside-out swing. This will square up the club face better at impact and result in a nice draw on all shots. Try hitting with a closed stance on all clubs for a while so you can experience what inside-out feels like. I still use the closed stance and I hit straight as an arrow.

On the full swing try to make sure the golf club is directly over your right shoulder and pointing toward the target. On the downswing, let your arms fall effortlessly and end with your belt buckle either facing the target or a little to the left of the target. Make sure your legs remain in an athletic position, never bending down or straightening up throughout the swing. “Make sure your take away is slow and maintain the triangle formed by your two arms through the entire swing!” The one piece take away works wonders. Remember to turn your shoulders and don’t just lift the club with your arms. Make sure that left shoulder gets to the ball or behind it on the take away. Keep your head up so that the left shoulder can turn under your chin and maintain your spine angle. Most of all have fun, enjoy the scenery, enjoy of the outdoors, listen to the birds chirping. And what ever you do don’t think about how well your scoring and you only need two more pars on the front or back nine to shoot your best score. Don’t think too much and just let it happen. Get in the zone and you’ll do just fine.

Practice, practice, practice. A well honed bad swing that can be done over and over again with predictable results is better than a great swing that only comes once a round.
